Kirtipur, Kathmandu, Nepal
Tribhuvan University (TU), in collaboration with Gyeongsang National University (GNU) of the Republic of Korea, successfully organized a joint seminar on "Prospects of Developing a Graduate Program on Entrepreneurship in Nepal" at the Kathmandu Center for Research and Education (KCRE), Kirtipur. The event builds upon the longstanding partnership between the two prestigious institutions, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on January 9, 2019. This agreement encompasses multifaceted areas of cooperation, including faculty and student exchanges, joint research initiatives, and the launch of innovative academic programs.
The half-day program started with a welcome remark from Prof. Dr. Khadga K.C., Rector of Tribhuvan University. Prof. K.C. underscored the institution's formidable strengths in teaching and research. He highlighted TU's proactive commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, particularly through the establishment of the Tribhuvan University Business Incubation Center (TUBIC), and expressed strong enthusiasm for advancing entrepreneurial education and ecosystem development in Nepal.
The welcome remarks followed presentations from Prof. Dr. Tara Prasad Bhusal, Director of TUBIC, which provided a comprehensive overview of initiatives in innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship currently underway in Nepal. Further, Prof. Dr. Park Sanghyeok from Gyeongsang National University delivered an insightful presentation on best practices in operating graduate-level entrepreneurship programs at GNU, while exploring promising avenues for deeper collaboration with Tribhuvan University. It followed very active discussion on various aspects of collaboration.
Following the presentations and discussion, H.E. Park Tae-young, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, delivered an inspiring keynote, attributing Korea's remarkable economic transformation to the synergistic integration of education and entrepreneurship (E2). Drawing from Korea's developmental experience, he motivated the attendees—many affiliated with TUBIC—by sharing compelling success stories of Korean-returnee entrepreneurs who have established thriving ventures in Nepal.
The seminar facilitated by Prof. Dr. Vishnu Prasad Pandey, Executive Director of the Centre for International Relations at Tribhuvan University concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. Pramod Paudel, Deputy Director of TUBIC. The seminar was attended by over 40 aspiring young students and emerging entrepreneurs. It served as a vital platform for knowledge exchange and strategic dialogue aimed at designing advanced graduate curricula tailored to Nepal's evolving entrepreneurial landscape.
